Tom Scott's Robinhood Series 2

A series 2 Robin Hood built in 1996/97 pre SVA, 8 years old this year. It has stainless monocoque (no chassis) and inboard front springs. Originally build straight from a Sierra 2.0 GL with a 5 speed gearbox, all parts were removed, cleaned up and put into the Hood. The main aim was to get it on the road quickly ( it still took 14 months) as the threat of SVA was looming. It has been totally reliable ever since.

I tend to take it off the road in November (too cold and too salty - I'm a wimp) and retax it in April ready for Detling. Mods since first built are a replacement 2 litre pinto from Vulcan Engineering with twin Weber 45s rated at 150 BHP. It showed 128 BHP at the wheels on a rolling road at Detling last year which equates to 150 at the flywheel and a quoted 200 BHP per ton. Next year was a new set of dials from Greengauge (CAI) red numbers with red pointers on white faces with chrome bezels. And finally a whizzy set of 16 inch alloys (I even painted the callipers and drums red). Jobs left to do are spray the glass fibre bits red (the gel coat has faded) and Oh yes fit some carpets. The trouble is I am too busy driving the thing.

Its the best fun per pound I've ever had. - Tom.
