The car is a mild steel bodied wishbone
2b & runs a 2.0L 20 blocked pinto out of an RS2000, gas
flowed, ported head with a Kent FR32 cam, vernier pulley
& 38DGAS.
Now runs a 4 into 1 & straight through exhaust.
Car has new Pepperpot wheels, corbeau seats & plastic petrol
tank.
Radiator is the RH setup (plastic single core rad) with electric
fan (manual switched).
Early
mods have included swapping the remoulds (yes remoulds!)
on the front for some Yoko's. Rears to be swapped soon & taking
out the pressure spring on the rad cap so that the circuit with
remote header is complete. Header tank is from a Volvo & is
setup like a modern car now rather than the old Cortina "suck
back" system. Seems to work well.
The car will get a modified advance distributor & then off
to Sanspeed for a rolling road session.
Mods to be done are, bigger clutch quadrant & some cut &
shut on the pedal to get it in a better position, fan sender switch
in boss in top hose, new Halogen 5 3/4 headlights in black, a
heater in custom box, temp sender for gauge that works properly!
Also needs an exhaust guard (as I've already stripped the
palm of Drews race gloves on it... oops sorry mate!)
The car has no boot so that needs building, I also want to fit
the 3.92 diff.
I'd also like to fix the reversing lights, take out the
cupped washers at the back to give more clearance, possible fit
spring assistors to help with same (or adjustable dampers) &
ultimately adjustable coilovers on the front.
Bonnet vents are to be replaced with lower more subtle black ones
(and maybe even a stainless bonnet & stainless rear arches
(as the paint flakes...) who knows...
I also want to make a proper surrey & some sidescreens (possibly
soft ones similar to our tarpaulin mockup, surprisingly effective
with permanent deflectors round the edge of the screen) unless
anyone has a RH roof they want to sell cheap...
One last thing... the builder fitted a radio CD, good head unit
(Pioneer 40w X 4) with Sony 6 x 9 speakers behind the seats &
Kenwood 4" dual mags in the side panels by your knees...
can you hear it?? What do you think... a complete waste of time
if you're thinking of fitting one don't. Only time it'll ever
be useful is in a traffic jam!
